UP Cinema, a duly recognized college and university-based film organization in the University of the Philippinines, once again materializes its goals of promoting and uplifting the status of cinema in the academe and in the society: as art, movement and industry.

On its eighth year, the Piling Obrang Vidyo (POV) has proven to be a worthy grassroots for our country’s budding filmmakers. The event is an annual inter-collegiate short film competition (shot on video) where students from various universities and colleges around the Philippines will compete and showcase their fresh and revolutionary artistry with their best short films.

An average of 400 people is gathered every year to watch these student films that will be screened for the first time on the big screen.

The three categories in which only one will emerge victorious from each of them are Narrative, Experimental, and Documentary.
