PHILPEX 2012, a national stamp competition and exhibition

philpex 2012The Philippine Philatelic Federation in cooperation with the Philippine Postal Corporation, Filipinas Stamp Collectors’ Club (FSCC), with various stamp clubs from all over the country invites everyone to the national stamp competition and exhibition entitled PHILPEX 2012.

The event will be held from January 24 to February 3, 2012 at the Philippine Postal Corporation main lobby that will feature their annual exhibit that will comprise of past winning entries of FIAP International Stamp Exhibition and also stage a national competition. Winners of this event will represent the country in various international stamp competitions for 2012 to 2013.

The Theme of the event is “Knowledge and Fun through Stamp Collecting”. “Stamp collecting can enrich one person’s knowledge through learning their country, history, culture, arts, heritage, nature, and industries among others.” Cited by Mr. Lawrence Chan, Filipinas Stamp Collectors’ Club, Media and Events Coordinator

Postmaster General Ms. Josie Dela Cruz and Hon. Alfredo S. Lim will be this year’s event’s guests of honor.

The event will have its opening ceremonies on January 24, 2012 at the main lobby of Philpost, Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila at 9:30 am. The exhibit is Free and open to the public. Everyone is invited.

About the Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club

FSCC is a non-stock, non-sectarian, non-profit and non-political organization of stamp, postcard, and letter collectors from all over the Philippines and the world.

The Manila Stamp Collectors' Club was founded on October 1994 by 5 stamp collectors. The purpose is to cater to beginners and intermediate collectors. On January 15, 1995 the club’s first meeting was held at Wendy's Restaurant in Escolta, Manila. Since then, the club conducts monthly meetings and from the initial 5 members in 1994, the club's membership had grown dramatically.

In 1998, a Postal History Walking Tour was added as part of the promotion and awareness of Philippine history through appreciation of stamps. It was launch as a commemorative celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence. The Free Philippine Postal Heritage Walking Tour is still on-going to this day held every third Sunday of the month.

In September 1999 the club’s name was changed to Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club. The club is duly recognized by the Philippine Philatelic Federation and by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
