Reunion at the Sining Kamalig Gallery

In celebration of the National Arts Month, Sining Kamalig Gallery is pleased to feature the works of the University of the Philippines CFA Studio Arts Batch of 1989 in REUNION, their get-together show from 22 February to 14 March, 2010.

After twenty long years, the group has decided to rekindle their passion for the arts by staging this exhibit. Instead of having a regular reunion, they opted to get hold of their brushes, sit down in their studios, and showcase their latest works to the public. The show is symbolic of their unwavering fervor in sharing their talent with one another. Although some have pursued other careers, their interest in creating works of art has never waned.

It all started from a simple suggestion. The remark was so spontaneous that those who were around immediately agreed to it. The timing was just right, and twenty years seemed like a blur that everyone wanted to catch up with one another yet again. As astists, a reunion-cum-exhibit was the ebst way to touch base with old classmates and friends. The show has been long overdue, it was the perfect time to finally get things done.

While most ventured in different careers, they felt excited about the idea. The thought of getting re-acquainted with their passion in painting was hard to pass up. Those who made their names in the art scene willingly encouraged them to get their brushes, and start to paint. In their minds, who would ever think that the alumni of UP CFA Studio Arts batch of 1989 would mount an exhibit after all this time?
Each may have their own reasons for joining, but it was obvious from the start that everyone mainly wants to rediscover the old feelings of camaraderie and bonding, and rekindle their friendships once again.

The participating artists are: Tessa Alcantara, Grandier Bella, Daniel Coquilla, Susan Corpuz, Kweenie Young-Cotton, Aba Lluch Dalena, Jasper De Leon, Norman Dreo, Juan Sajid Imao, Nikulas Lebajo, Jesus Lozada, Joey Luna, Noel Mahilum, Marc Malto, Dayong Mendoza, JJ San Pascual, Paul Albert Quiaño, Omar Sebastian, Kris Soguilon, and Rogel Tapang. Exhibition design is by Nilo Ilarde.

Sining Kamalig Gallery, is situated at the 4th Level of the Gateway Mall, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines.
