Paper in Contemporary Art and Design by Tony Gonzales and Tes Pasola

Power is an integral part of Asian art and design aesthetic and, with recycling on the rise, it is being used and reused even more. Paper cutouts, paper fabric, paper home decor, and paper fashion are just some of the ways pulp is making its way back into everyday items.

Paper artists and designers Tony Gonzales and Tes Pasola will examine current trends in paper in art and design. They will also illustrate how artists and designers from around the world have been working with paper in recent years. The design talk caps off the exhibition Pumapapel: Art in Paper, which ends November 27. The exhibit features the works of Gonzales and Pasola, among other artists.

Designers and paper artists Tony Gonzales and Tes Pasola have been reinventing paper as a medium for art and design for decades. Gonzales experiments with handmade abaca and makes collages for international calendar competitions; Pasola, on the other hand, plays around with papers infused with leaves, wires, and seeds and transforms paper into natural shapes.
