Mylene Lising in Kaida Gallery

Kaida Contemporary Gallery presents Transformation, the first solo exhibition of Mylene Lising, on January 23, 2011.

With large scale works showing visions of blurred cities, beaches and land formations culled from the UP BFA Studio Arts graduate cum licensed interior designer’s memory, Lising’s Transformation Series signify the repeating cycles of ruin and renewal.  They may be related to global issues, looked upon as satellite views of atmospheric conditions, but they may also be defined as images that defy human control.

For Lising, the transformation occurs not only on canvas, but to all elements that comprise the universe itself, and the natural laws that rule each being it nurtures.  The paintings may be whatever the viewer perceives it to be, as he or she sees the process of transformation unfolding on each piece.  It may be a progression of seasons, a route yet unexplored, or a visual depiction of dynamism and movement in muted colors.  It is life as seen from a creative soul’s eyes.

In Lising’s own words, “These paintings are not representations of landscapes. They are a presentation of different kinds and stages of transformation.  They are like a Rorschach test on how the viewer perceives the processes that lead to transformation.  Does one see darkness, upheaval and turmoil? Or does he sense forthcoming calm and peace—the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel?”

Mylene Lising’s Transformation unfolds on January 23, Sunday, at the Kaida Contemporary Gallery at six o’clock in the evening.  The gallery is located at 36 Scout Santiago St. corner Scout de Guia, Diliman, Quezon City.  For more details, please contact +639279297129 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
