Heartstrings unveils dela Cruz’s new sculptures created from handmade brass and other metals: merging the female form with that of musical instruments and chairs. The artist intentionally combines human and musical forms to create images denoting “where the woman begins and where the music starts, indistinguishable.”

The show features an array of metal sculptures conveying the intersecting beauty and sensuality of women and music. Dela Cruz likens his Muses to melody, and echoes his enchantment in his works.

“We all have them, unforgettable songs, songs which stick in our minds and in our souls. Songs which tug at our heartstrings and inspire us to greater endeavors and onto a higher plane. So are there women in our lives who have touched us with their own melodies. Their very beings music, an awakening to those who listen. Mother, daughter, friend, lover, teacher and guide.” The artist says,

“Each melody is a part of their being, an inspiration to reach higher and even to seek God.” Dela Cruz concludes.
