nelson castillo, janddie castillo, jc castilloThe home is where the heart is. It is where we learn our first words, and a place where we took our first steps. Our family is our first teacher who nurtures us with traditions, values and cultures that greatly influenced us as we get older. It is the glue that binds us together, that makes us stronger. And in the Castillo household is no different.

They say that talent always runs in the family, and in the case of Nelson Castillo, Janddie Castillo, and JC Castillo, the saying is proven to be true.

Nelson Marcelo Castillo is an internationally renowned Filipino-American artist, who was born in Alaminos, Laguna on April 11, 1944.  Nelson received his degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in 1964 and began painting miniatures 4 years after graduating, which marked his identity as the “Father of Philippine Miniature Painting.

Janddie Banuelos Castillo, Nelson’s son, was born on January 24, 1974, followed his father’s footsteps as he took up Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Far Eastern University. Janddie is a modern impressionist/realist painter who has a passion for colourful and vibrant trees, fish, landscapes and still life objects.

The artistic influence doesn’t stop there. John Clark Salazar Castillo, also known as JC, is the 9 year old eldest son of Janddie, who doesn’t want to wait for college before he starts to paint. At an early age, JC was able to establish himself a style and expression in art. He likes to draw different lines and paint colourful curves using his palette and acrylic paints.

The Castillo Three Generation Art show, C3G, is a display of masterpieces these three Castillo’s have created. A Father, Son and Grandson art exhibit. The diversity of style, technique and personality was clearly presented in each of their paintings. The pride of the family cannot be contained that this exhibit has to be made public last January 19, 2012 at the Philamlife Exhibition Lobby, U.N. Avenue, Manila, where friends and family gathered together for their support.

Miniature paintings of Nelson, vibrant paintings of Janddie and the colourful curved paintings of JC can be seen on display in Philamlife Lobby until February 2, 2012.
