IMAGO ”Blush”

IMAGO is idealized conception to someone / something you love.  IMAGO has faithfully adhered to their ideals when it comes to the one they consistently and so dearly love -- their own kind of music.

On their new album titled BLUSH, released by Universal Records, lead vocalist Aia de Leon, guitarist Tim Cacho, bassist Myrene Academia and drummer Zach Lucero are one solid musical force in their spontaneous outpouring of love and emotions beyond.
The sudden rush of blood to the face, giving one a rosy/pinkish hue, is blush. As pink has always been associated with romance and emotions from a happy heart, Imago’s heartfelt joy goes beyond becoming rosy in the album. Thanks to the songwriting prowess of lead singer Aia de Leon, her prismic vision brings us the versi-colored shades of the noblest human emotions.

The album’s first single, “Taralets” is a cordial invitation to cast all fears aside, let your hair down to a guaranteed fun-filled excursion - a musical voyage, with a few pleasant sidetrips!

BLUSH is really a culmination of Imago’s past two artistic outings, the “Probably Not But Most Definitely” and “Take 2” albums.  From their first effort, they have won Awit, Katha and NU107 Rock Awards, including a Best Vocalist, Best Bassist and Best Drummer trophies for Aia, Myrene and Zach, respectively.

In their current album, Imago’s feet-on-the-ground music and lyrics are still intact.  They have never departed from reality, in songs like “Sundo,” “Zelo,” “Lula” and “Under Repair,” but the feelings are more intense and touching.  “Lights Out” trickles with such a sexy come-on and yet is still in the boundaries of decency, without diminishing such teasing sensation.

The poetess Aia de Leon has the power to take her listener beyond the realms of romance.  With her soothing vocals interpreting her self-penned songs, this world-class talent is on the brink of international recognition.

And how could she go wrong with a simply efficient set-up.  Tim Cacho’s sweeping guitar playing is oozing with appeal and genuine feelings.  Simply complimenting Aia’s singing.  He is in total control of his own instrument and always aware when to soar and when to pull back.

The ever reliable Myrene Academia on bass, provides one formidable musical foundation that a band like Imago really needs.  She simply lay-outs the ample spaces and diving boards for all the band’s personnel to create their individual musical artistry.

Zach Lucero’s technical proficiency on drums simply heightens all the emotion that each song in the Blush album conveys.

Imago is really an S.R.O. of talent and creativity which should be immensely enjoyed by their ever-growing audience.  With songs that are consistently true and honest, the band deserves all the praise and success.
