Aliw Awards was established to give due recognition to Filipino live entertainers. The awards range from comedians, live acts, musicians, and entertainers. The 22nd Aliw Awards was conducted last November 17, 2009.

This event has been the pioneer of giving trophies that signify achievements. Aliw is from the root word meaning "to entertain".
