The Oldest coral stone church in Bohol

Baclayon ChurchBuilt in 1595, the Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Baclayon, Bohol, is the oldest coral stone church in the region and one of the oldest in Asia. It is also known as the best preserved Jesuit built churches in the Philippines.

Inside the church, you will find the Baclayon Pipe organ that was built in 1824, the third oldest pipe organ in the Philippines (after those in Las Pinas and San Agustin). Though the organ is not functional, the construction is still in tact and can be viewed by visitors from afar.

In the church museum, you will find the Tabla Rizal (walls of the church), Tabique Panipango (the thin wall or division walls) made of interlaced pieces of wood and bamboos and given a coating of lime mixed with sand and egg white, used as a partition wall; Old records, parish priest’s clothes, old musical instruments, images and paintings.
