Meet ‘Prony’, a huge and popular phython in bohol, which was named after his capturer Mr. Sopronio Salibay in Upper Sta. Fe, Albur, Bohol. He was captured in 1996 and weighs around 5 kilos at 5 ft at that time.

Tourists and locals alike visits his cage on their way to the chocolate hills to see this enormous python the town is talking about. What makes Prony so special is his size and his appetite and the only python in you can find in the region.

Prony is now 200 kgs at 23 ft and 30 inches. His growth is said to be abnormal to typical pythons. He is only 10 years old but his weight and length is typical for a 40 year old python. Even scientists are surprised with his abnormal growth. With this huge size, it is not surprising to know that he also has a big appetite. Prony now eats a pig or two goats per month.

It is said that Prony’s growth resulted to the tender loving care he’s been receiving from Jing Jing Salibay, his caretaker. He is treated as a part of the family. He takes a bath everyday, received hugs and intensive care from the people around him. But scientifically speaking, nobody can still explain the reason behind his abnormal growth.

It’s incredible to see this python living together with eagles, chickens and flying limors in one cage.

Prony’s skins are so huge that the owners where able to make a pair of underwear from it and a few souvenir items like wallets and key chains.
