San Pablo City's Sampaloc Lake

Sampaloc LakeSampaloc lake is the biggest lake in the City. Each lake in San Pablo City had its legend, and this is no exception.

Legend has it that an old woman who was with a sick child saw a tamarind tree and would like to eat its fruit. They asked the couple who owns the tree their permission but the couple hesitated and turn down the old woman and shoos them away. The old woman then made a curse that there would be heavy rains and flood that will make the place disappear. Then, heavy rains poured and the flood sunk the village.

Nobody can say if the legend was real.

But in the 1980s, restaurants and residential houses surrounded the lake that cause the lake to be polluted and started to die. So, the government took some action by closing down the restaurants and relocated the residents. Divers was then sent to the lake to see the extent of the damage of the pollution and wastes that was dump into the lake. Surprisingly, the divers was able to find several tamarind trees under the water and an old church bell as well.

After a breathtaking view of the lake, rush off to Palmeras Garden restaurant, where a soothing ambiance, cool breeze and good food awaits everyone.
