Dili Ka Gwapo of Six Siblings

Dili Ka GwapoWhenever we travel, we try to learn the culture, and food of every city we visit. On our search, we were not expecting anything grand, but we are expecting to find something different and delicious along the way.

During our stay in General Santos City, we were able to bump into this restaurant called Six Siblings. Aside from the fact that this is the only restaurant in town to offer Ostrich dishes, people tend to find their menu a little intriguing and unique.

“Dili ka gwapo” is one of their signature appetizers, that if you will translate it in English, it will literally mean “you are not handsome” but this dish is simply a combination of dilis (dried small fish), guava and pomelo. It is very refreshing and is considered as one of their best sellers.

Ostrich meats are also their specialty. Having said that they are the only restaurant serving this kind of meat, they still try to be creative when it comes to their menu. Aside from the typical Ostrich steaks, they also serve “Galante”, an ostrich burger big enough for four people; “Inamigo”, an ostrich burger enough for two, “Bibo” and “Apiki”. It is known that Ostrich meat is low in fat and cholesterol but high in protein. Ostrich Eggs are also in the menu and you will be able to keep the egg shell once you are done.

What caught my attention is the wall designs in this restaurant. A truck that seemed like crashing thru the wall is the focal point, and the fossilized tuna on the other end. The fossilized tuna was caught in 2006 and said to be the biggest tuna in General Santos City. It weighed 240 kilos, and it is on display in this restaurant wall for everyone to see.
