Makansutra, Knowledge made edible

Open Kitchen of MakansutraMakansutra is a new addition in the Manila Ocean Park that will tingle and entice all your senses. See, hear, smell and taste a different experience.

“Makan” is Bahasa for “to eat”, while “sutra” is Sanksrit for “lessons”. This was brought in to the country by a food anthropologist and photojournalist KF Seetoh.

Makansutra Asian Food village is an interactive open “naked chef” performance kitchen that demonstrates the connections between Asian food and Asian culture. There will be a roving “kacang putih”, the traditional vendor of India dressed in traditional garb, roasted nuts and beans in paper cups, and a “tock tock” noodle vendor who will be going around the village for orders.

This concept is designed to introduce “edutainment” in an open kitchen food court. An intention to teach as well as amuse visitors by presenting best Asian street food and culture combined.

The village displays at least ten interactive stations. Each set up created to resemble images of people, places and flavors of regions and how it came about. Each station, table and chairs, exhibits a replica of an ancient icon related to a forgotten era.

A wide array of sumptuous meals can be found in this village that will surely amuse your appetite. From the famous Bak Kut The, Haiananese Chicken rice, Pepper Crab, Glory Popiah, Fried Hokkien Mee, just to name a few.

Make sure to drop by the Makansutra Asian Food village whenever you visit Manila Ocean Park, an appetizing experience you and your tummy will surely remember!
