TRC’s 33rd Anniversary

TRC 2010 Trade FairThe Technology Resource Center ( TRC) celebrates its 33rd anniversary with a reinvigorated commitment to champion the cause of Filipino technopreneurs.

In a press conference at the TRC Building in San Juan City, recently-installed Director General Dennis L. Cunanan said the pursuit of the country’s technology agenda remains to be the Philippines’ best bet towards achieving solid and long-term economic progress.

DG Cunanan draws attention to the pioneering efforts of young technopreneurs at the TRC –managed DOST-PEZA Open TBI (Technology Business Incubator) saying there is indeed a rising wave of new and promising technology-based business ventures in the country begun by mostly youthful entrepreneurs. Their initial success has inspired excitement among technology professionals in the country and Cunanan assured government is doing everything within its means to help them succeed as well.

Open TBI is available to all individuals especially young entrepreneurs who are looking for a way to start their IT related business, having no capital or resources for an office or equipment needed such as computers and internet that would help in the research and development of their projects.

Following its work at the Open TBI, the Technology Resource Center launches the Technology Partnering Forum (TechForum) 2010 slated at the Philippine Trade Training Center on February 22-24, 2010. The event is hailed as the country’s first-ever gathering of leading entrepreneurs, technology professionals, researchers, inventors, business support service providers, suppliers and angel investors.

“Idea to Liquidity” is the main agenda and theme to help the techno-preneur make an informed decision every step of the way to bringing his business idea to reality.

THE PHILIPPINE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND INNOVATION SYSTEM; ACCELERATING INNOVATION; INVESTING ON TECHNOLOGY-BASED ENTERPRISES: CONCEPT & ISSUES; TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIALIZATION includes Keeping Philippine Industry Competitive; TECHNOLOGY PARTNERING OPPORTUNITIES includes The Future of Nano Technology in the Philippines and Innovative Enterprises in the making; and FINANCING YOUR TECHNOLOGY were some of the topics covered.

TRC is a state-owned corporation under the administrative supervision of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and has proven itself as one of its indispensable partners in the promotion of technology. The agency also holds the distinction of being the first to successfully undergo rationalization in 2006 as mandated under the President’s Executive Order 366.
