The Philippine Longest Acrylic Painting On Continuous Canvass has been at work since 2006 to mark the country in this category to be included in the Guinness World Record. The painting depicts the symbol of Peace in celebration of the UNESCO's 2001-2010, International Decade for Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for Children of the World.

“Fishes of the Ocean” is this event’s theme, a project which started out to focus on educational awareness and environmental preservation has now evolved to this big phenomenon, a collaboration of Filipino artists and their work in the 7 kilometer stretch of canvass.

The world’s Longest painting is solely the brainchild of Mr. Rollie de Leon, an award winning scenographer and founding president of a non-governmental foundation, the On The Spot Artists Association (OTSAA).

The first 100 meters of the painting activity was done on Earth Day, April 22, 2006. Another month-long painting activity was held in August of 2006 in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) which was celebrating it’s anniversary at the time.

June 28, 2010 marked the unveiling and official measuring of the continuous canvas that was held in the Livelihood Center Building, Batangas Port. The painted canvass reached a total stretch of 7,344 meters of collaborative work of various Filipino Artists that painted life under water thru their own interpretation and expression in realism or representational works.

Participants that are composed of students, professional and amateur artists with their paint brushes at hand, stand the heat of the day to work side by side to reach this goal.

The 7,344 meters of Painting On Continuous Canvass is still on exhibit at the Livelihood Center to this day, topping down the current record of Mexico which is 6,001 meters.
