6th Agraryo Trade Fair

Agrarian Reform is the redistribution of agricultural lands to farmers and regular farm workers who are landless, irrespective of tenurial arrangement. It includes the provision of support services such as credit extension, irrigation, roads and bridges, marketing fascilities, human resource and institutional development.

The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) was instituted to promote social justice and industrialization and provide mechanisms for its implementation.

Agraryo Trade Fair was first organized in 2002 as a part of CARP’s celebration of its anniversary and a part of celebrating the Philippine Independence day. The Department of Agrarian Reform or DAR exists for two (2) reasons; First, provision of land and Second, provision of support services.

The lands were already provided and distributed among the people, now, the farmers are planting seeds and able to harvest from it. The farmers where able to produce rice, fruits and vegetables from these lands, each village produces a certain product and DAR is there to assist them continuously through training, providing new technology, packaging, BFAD accreditation and so on.

Philippine agricultural products gathered in one venue in the annual Agraryo Trade Fair that started last June 6 and ended last June 10, 2007 at the SM Megatrade Hall.

The annual Agraryo Trade Fair (ATF) showcases the best of Philippine agricultural products from all regions that have the potential to make it big in the world market. Some of the products exhibited are, in fact, already being exported abroad. The product range featured in the event include furniture, handicrafts, fashion and home accessories, fresh and processed foods, and a wide variety of other interesting products. Over 100 exhibitors from all over the country participated in the event.

The five day activity also featured free seminars and lectures educating the beneficiaries of the land reform program on how to properly utilize their farmlands and maximize opportunities offered by trade globalization.
